Musicians from the Hanseatic city of Hamburg sail through Jewish migrations in word and song!<\/span><\/p>\n The port of Hamburg is the starting point for this concert. Around 1900, it was the most important emigration port in Europe, and a hub for millions of Eastern European refugees on their way to the New World of America.<\/span><\/p>\n With workers’ songs, exile poems and a portion of sailors’ tales, the musicians sing about the port of Hamburg as a place of departure and arrival, as a symbol of home and refuge and as a refuge for hopes and dreams.<\/span><\/p>\n Another theme of the production is the Yiddish language, which has always defined itself transnationally and <\/span>Cross-border. In the performance, revolutionary poets meet modern Yiddish poets.
