Daniel Kahn, the Detroit-born Yiddish troubadour, joins his longtime comrades Christian Dawid and Jake Shulman-Ment for an intimate evening of new and old songs, smuggled across the borders of the Yiddish language, English, German and more.
Expect a modern collection of crazy ballads, windswept klezmer, prison laments, revolutionary hymns and apocalyptic blues – drawn from the tradition of poets such as Gebirtig, Brassens, Dylan, Waits, Guthrie, Schaechter-Gottesman, Cohen and Kahn himself – and from the trio’s long collaboration in the cult cabaret klezmer band “The Painted Bird”.
